WALL DRAWING

Stencils is a work that arises from the freedom offered by the expansiveness of a wall to the contents within it. It asks of the viewer to reconcile assumptions about what is the work — is it the object of the series, is it an individual within the series (the final one per se) or is it the series itself (even if some of these steps are intermediary steps). Stencils emphasizes this tension by not only exhibiting the outcome of the stencil, but also the stencil itself, as part of the work. The representation of the object is also questioned, as both the stencil and the outcome are, form-wise, identical representations of the object, only shaped by what we perceive to be art and not art.
