WRITING.
I enjoy critical thinking (and I'd like to contextualise my art, and those of others), so I'd like to write a critical piece (like an essay) on my own space — and maybe shorten it for the exhibition.
① compare and contrast vs ② critique of an existing piece. What else exists? Maybe a comparison of Tibetan art with X, Y, Z. Or a critique of a related text — not obviously related to the artwork, but in some way it is.
0.4. so discovery... what is my artwork about?
How are they doing it? What are they saying? — Memo Review, un Magazine.
Role of the critic — Tara Heffernan ("Critical Criticism").
Method: ~200 words objective + ~200 words subjective. Questions you have → next level / evolution. How's it relevant? Why do I care?
Model? → steel? Blobs from welding. Workshops, Master of Curatorial Studies (Parkville, 1 yr), Art History → critical stance.
Conceptual framework for many pieces; my practice sits alone. Portfolio + last work + visual diary. Invest in making more (iterations). Next iteration: 6 joins, hide wires, colour. Play doh, not wax?
