GROUP CRITIQUE 2 — the class's critique of my piece (wax + wire).

OBJECTIVE (what they could see):
wax; wire frame; on a white plinth; strong light casting shadow; shadow has as much visual weight as the object; open and closed loops, looping in on itself; wax veins in the thickness; transparency; matt sheen; ~20cm high; 6 points of contact with the plinth; can walk around it; the form manipulated, not a found shape.

SUBJECTIVE (what it meant / what they felt):
balanced; movement; flow; another form of drawing; demons / deity; capture truth; intrinsic to the material — and can bring it out; reminds of many things but nothing in particular; it doesn't have to be anything; elusive; grass, root system, nerve connection, organic form.

QUESTIONS:
Would you hang it / put it on a wall? Why on a plinth? Intentional shape, or did it happen at install? How difficult with wax? Colour of wax? What would you do differently? Why this scale? Is it a model of something?

HOW IT FELT:
"Elusive / not quite a thing" — I felt seen. "Another form of drawing" — recognition. The organic readings — welcome. People called it "ugly" / "disgusting" — I found that really powerful, because it relates to the wrathful deity. The engagement was what I liked most. I wish I'd had a written piece next to the work.
